Lennar Mortgage Donates 3,244 Cases of Water to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Survival Squad
The temp in Phoenix is predicted to hit 110 degrees today. With this kind of heat, water = survival. Lennar Mortgage recently hosted their “Second Annual Water Wars” in response to the excessive Arizona heat. Associates collected and donated 3,244 cases – that’s nearly 80,000 bottles – of water in an effort to help the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Survival Squad provide cooling and hydration to those seeking shelter from high temperatures throughout Arizona. Being one of the largest international charitable organizations, the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Survival Squad provides free hydration, shelter, and refuge to anyone seeking relief from extreme temperatures.
“I am grateful to work at a company that values the lives of others in our community. It is sometimes easy to forget that many people do not have access to water or shelter from extreme heat. We are proud to be part of The Salvation Army’s outreach efforts,” said Bill Mitchell, Lennar Mortgage's Human Resources Generalist. Throughout July, associates from Lennar Mortgage's Tempe and Scottsdale offices collected water then joined forces with the Salvation Army to deliver the water to hydration units. Each unit provided cooling and hydration to those looking to escape the heat in the metro Phoenix area.
