Laura Escobar Named 2020 Woman of Influence
Creating A Culture Of Leaders
Lennar Mortgage's President, Laura Escobar, has been named one of HousingWire’s Women of Influence 2020. This program was created to acknowledge the energy, ideas, achievements and commitment of women in mortgage banking and real estate, and salutes women who are changing the game in both their own businesses and the overall industry.
For Escobar, who currently leads a team of more than 1,100 associates in 54 locations across 26 states, this recognition affirms her core values of gratitude, community and mentorship.
“I am passionate about paying it forward and helping others realize their full potential,” says Escobar. “Even today we see underrepresentation of women and minorities in leadership roles within the financial services sector. My priority is to help change that by elevating underrepresented talent in the housing industry.” Escobar adds, “at Lennar Mortgage, 64% of our workforce and 57% of our management team are women. This is one of the highest levels of women in the industry. I believe that our commitment to diversity within our company and our industry is a crucial factor in our success.”

Secrets of Her Success: Laura Escobar’s Best Tips
- Simplify and question everything, and encourage your team to do the same. “It doesn’t matter if you are an intern or an executive, everyone is expected to identify ways in which we can simplify our business to make things easier for the business and the consumer.”
- Build a connection and listen. “Each year, I go out to visit every single division, typically on a four-month straight road trip to meet and talk to everyone and listen. I often use my go-to pep-talk phrase: ‘If I can do it, you can do it!’ After this annual coast-to-coast road trip, I bring all I’ve learned on the road to the executive team for discussion.”
- Keep it real. “My advice for women beginning their careers in the housing industry is to stay passionate and real in everything that they do and lead every day with gratitude.”
